Contemplating about meaning of life, few years ago I said to myself, that meaning of life, besides being happy (Catholic priest, friend of mine said, that it is as simple as that:)), is to leave world a bit better behind you.. And if one has blessing to have children, then good way to leave a legacy is to teach them to be better than oneself...
Now, this assumes that you have to define what the "better" means, and then work hard on delivering that standard...
"Better" might mean many things:
1) more caring and loving person, multiplying love around...
2) bigger achiever in business (innovating, building sustainable reaponsible businesses, working places)
3) more entertaining, making world funnier place
4) stronger leader, fighting stronger for what is right, having higher ethical standards...
List can go on... And at the end, it is about choices. "Better" might mean many things, and then question for parents is: what is the choice, and if it is you or your kid, to make that choice, and you simply "going with the flow"...
I would be happy to hear your comments, dear parents, on how you are making choices? How disciplined are you and how much discipline you imply on your kids? How are you trying to figure out what your kids are best at? Is it about making sound foundation (10 commandments for example) only, or is it about searching desperately talents of your kids, testing them in as many areas as possible? What is your "recipe" for better future?
