For me it was a moment of re-evaluation, new standard of feeling low. Adding to the idea of blog "not taking yourself too seriously",it just demonstrated fragility of all the big dreams, aspirations and suggested taking it easy.
It also clearly stated importance of psychology in modern sport. When power, techniques, talent and tactics are equal, you compete on your willingnes to win, confidence to win, tenacity, and, of cours pure luck as well.
And I had few more quick conclusions after the game, just to make sense (or nonsense) out of it:
- Germany is strong. I bet 3:1 they will beat Argentina.
- 1:5 would be more fair. Latvia would lose to Germany 1:4. Result was correlating to GDP per capita comparison of Brasil (11 K $) and Germany (50k $). Money drives effort and investment.
- Football is like sales. You are as good as your last month sales. It is amazing how much critics team of Brazil and coach is getting after this one and only loss in the championship despite solid performance so far.
- Shit happens. Sometimes things go unpredictable. Taking longer and broader view takes effort then.
- This world cup is the most entertaining I have experienced. Number of goals, last minute goals, surprises - all make it extremely memorable and tasty even for the guy who watches soccer once in 4 years - during world cup.
- Power, speed, tactics and stamina. Artists of this game (Pele, Platini, Maradona, Eusebio etc) are scarce and game is dominated by disciplined, well trained teams, that run faster, more and to right places. Messi is the reason I will support Argentina in finals.
Good night, and I still will support Brazil whenever a chance - they still are artists of the game to me. - Power, speed, tactics and stamina.
